One way to improve breast MRI may be to develop other contrast agents besides gadolinium. Such contrast agents have the potential to improve the detection of tumors and give rise to greater discrimination between cancerous tissue and other breast tissue.
Several pharmaceutical companies and institutions are working to come up with new, safe contrast agents that can improve breast and lymph node MRI.
